The University of Maiduguri has released its 2025/2026 examination timetable, sparking reactions from students and officials. For weeks, rumors had spread across campus about possible changes, leaving many unsure of when exams would truly begin.
Tomas from Mechanical Engineering expressed concern about rumors of shifting exams, urging students to prepare and move on.
Grema Jewel from Political Science noted that their department has not yet received the timetable, making exam preparation difficult.
Meanwhile, Emma Suleman from Health Education confirmed she has seen the timetable and is preparing ahead, encouraging others to stay focused.
On the official side, Mohammed Auwal Umar of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, and a member of the University Examination Timetable Committee, explained that the timetable was approved after a special senate meeting. He said “exams were initially set for the 13th of April, but the Vice Chancellor granted an extension, moving the start date to the 15th of April”.
He advised students to rely only on official communication channels such as their Heads of Department, and not on rumors, stressing that the timetable now circulating is indeed official.
On the other hand Abubakar Abdullahi Ahmed, the Examination Officer of the Department of Applied Chemistry, explained that the departmental examination timetable was out and most lecturers have finished their classes, and the department is almost fully ready for the exams.
He also advised students to keep reading and preparing and not depend only on rumours.
