The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Muhammad Laminu Mele, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, commissioned 15 electric tricycles at the university’s Works Department.

The project, funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), is designed to make movement around the campus easier and more affordable for students.
Professor Mele encouraged students to use the tricycles responsibly.
He explained that the initiative will help reduce the stress of walking long distances and ease the financial burden of transportation during tough economic times.

This development marks a step toward sustainable mobility and shows UNIMAID’s commitment to improving student welfare.
