Retired Broadcaster and Guard Killed in Abeokuta Home Attack

A former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, popularly called “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard were found dead at her residence in the Kobape area of Abeokuta. The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday.

The guard’s body was discovered at his post, while Oyesiku’s remains were found inside her apartment. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that detectives were quickly sent to the scene, where they observed signs of forced entry and disorder. Her car was also reported missing.

Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi urged the public to stay calm and assured that an investigation had been launched. He disclosed that the case was reported by a neighbor who noticed suspicious activity at the house.

According to Babaseyi, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has ordered a full inquiry into the killings. Security operations and intelligence efforts have been stepped up across key areas to track down the culprits.

The police extended their condolences to the families, colleagues at OGTV, the media industry, and everyone affected by the tragedy, promising to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice. They also appealed to residents to remain alert and share any helpful information with investigators.
