The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, securing him a second term in office.

The official declaration was made at the INEC headquarters in Ado-Ekiti by the Returning Officer after the collation of results from all the local government areas in the state.

According to the announced results, Governor Oyebanji received 319,224 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Olumayokun Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 40,545 votes. The outcome reflects a decisive victory for the incumbent governor.

Following the announcement, supporters of the APC celebrated across different parts of the state, describing the result as a vote of confidence in the governor’s leadership and developmental efforts during his first term.

Speaking after the declaration, party loyalists expressed appreciation to the people of Ekiti for participating peacefully in the election. They also called for unity and cooperation among residents as the governor begins preparations for another four-year term.

Meanwhile, political observers have noted that the election result may shape political strategies ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. They also commended the peaceful conduct of voters and security personnel during the electoral process.

As Governor Oyebanji prepares to continue in office, many residents are hopeful that his administration will build on existing projects, improve infrastructure, create more employment opportunities, and address key challenges affecting the people of Ekiti State.
