The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a disturbing trend involving elderly individuals, including grandfathers, participating in the sale of illicit drugs to teenage students across parts of Nigeria.

According to the agency, recent operations led to the arrest of several suspects who allegedly specialize in distributing hard drugs to young people, particularly secondary school students. The NDLEA described the development as alarming, noting that some of the suspects use their age as a cover to avoid suspicion while engaging in illegal activities.
Officials revealed that the arrested individuals were found in possession of various narcotics, including cannabis and other harmful substances, which were being supplied to minors. The agency emphasized that such actions not only violate the law but also endanger the future of Nigerian youths.
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to intensifying its crackdown on drug trafficking networks, regardless of the age or status of those involved. It warned that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
The agency also called on parents, guardians, and school authorities to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their communities. It stressed that tackling drug abuse among teenagers requires collective responsibility and continuous awareness.
